

GENDER BASED VIOLENCE
Gender Based Violence refers to as the using physical force to injure, abuse, damage even to destroy something or someone.In this case, violence is used against women in society as a way to harm them for a certain reason.It is usually between a man and a woman where the male figure feels that he is instilled with dominance against the woman which usually cause them to use violence as a form of making a woman feel helpless due to the power of inequality between both genders. Gender Based Violence can happen in both public and private places.It does not only occur in families but also in communities.Some forms of Gender Based Violence are physical,sexual and psychological violence which results in domestic violence,sexual abuse such as rape and the abuse of children,forced pregnancy,sexual slavery.They even use methods such as honor killings,burning or acid throwing.

Gender Based Violence affects everyone. Not only females or male. In today's society, gender based violence is something that we try to educate the public about. Their are many websites dedicated to help spreading awareness of gender based violence and help those individuals who are affected by it.
Examples of GBV include, but are not limited to: sexual abuse of children, rape, intimate partner violence, sexual assault and harassment, trafficking of women and girls, and harmful traditional practices such as early and forced marriage and female genital mutilation. These acts can occur in public or private spaces and are usually committed by someone the survivor knows – in most cases, an intimate partner. (Sourced from the united nations)
